We get to hear the massive explosions of a Sicilian marriage, Zoa is most unimpressed. There is rain and storm Harry which does a great deal of damage to some of the seafronts on the east coast.

The weather is changable and Ruth causes concern with an unreliable starter battery, so we head to Ragusa Techmat and buy a battery booster. Hope we don't need it, although the engine doesn't spring to life with the willingness of a 17-year old.

We have coffee here most mornings. Zoa has decided he likes the people here and greets them with great Gusto!

We have days of sunshine and then a few days of wind. Goodness knows how other parts of Europe are coping, where their wind is twice the conditions we are having on Sicily. It's difficult to sleep with the van rocking.

It too passes and we settle back into the daily routine of walks, coffee, food and a few online information channels.

02-MAR and we packup and head for Catania to have Ruth weighed (for free) in a 3380 Kgs. Then on to the Mall near the airport for a less-than quiet night, but I'm OK with it.

This site has gone from £11 to £20 in one giant leap. The plan seems to be to install water and waste, but it does seem to me to be charging at that level before the facilities are available is robbery. (In France, at CCP sites the offer is Wifi, lekkie, pitch, dumping and water for less than £20.)

We then head to Totnes and spend 4 months doing what we usually do - servicing my body, paying tax, insurance and walking a lot beside the river.

At the farm owned by friends who allow us to leave Ruth there.

I hear the news that a very good man has left us.

This year I'm keen to get back to Züri to see family so we leave earlier than usual.

It turns out that Zoa's French Pet Passport is no longer for travel into Europe in spite of his having been born there. Yet another benefit of brexit. So, we have to arrange an AHC (Animal Health Certificate) which under normal circumstances seems to demand a price of circa £300. But, I find a Romanian Vet who charges a lot less. It's only valid for 3 months I think. Not an issue because we don't plan to be back until the Spring of 2027, if at all.

So, we packup our shackles and leave the farm taking the road north with the first stop at one of our favourite places, the Environment Agency parkup on the Somerset Flats.

12-SEP-26 We visit family one more time and then leave over a "busy" Gottardo tunnel and head into

First to Monza where the place we thought we could spend the night was not possible, so we went to a side road close to the Royal Villa and its park.

It's Sunday, so not so much traffic in Monza. A bit different when we hit the motorway. There is a huge queue, fortunately for us in the other direction, at least 10 klicks. We find diesel (at €21.9) and LPG, though some places seem to be out of this essential gas and end up in Quingentole.

Unfortunately the local pizza place is closed for a few days. One of the best i've ever tasted, although the lady in the bar, who is from Naples, says it's simply no contest with her home town. We spend a few quiet days walking beside the river and fighting the miggies. Then onwards.

The place is bursting, due to the cruise ship.

I get some grilled sardines - so yummy. We have nice neighbours who say it's aOK to stay the night so we do. After the 2nd night the neighbours say they are off to Elea Beach, which i thought had been closed by police, with some folk being (illegally) arrested, but they say that has all changed and it's back to the camping paradise it used to be. So we follow them.

Miloš and I were here 13 years ago and it's terrific, very calm. Zoa takes it all in practising his swimming.

Then off to Gythio to get a ferry ticket. However, on the way we see this most unfortunate accident when a German lost his engine on a bend in his Moho and slid back almost off the road. I get the couple out and after interacting (translating a lot because their english is not good) with the locals, we get the police and then someone who owns a 40 ton lorry. The van gets pulled out and we all go on our merry way. The couple were mighty relieved. I get called an angel - strange for an atheist!

We spend the night in Gythio port. In the morning we get tickets and head to our favourite local becah for some R&R.
