Triangle of Sadness |
A somewhat disturbingflick about a buch of rich people on a ship. With twists and turns - A bit like "Lord of the Flies", a story which is directly contradicted by an actual island with boys.. |
Valley of Peace |
Old black and white film about WWII in Slovenia with young orphans who try to find the valley with the help of a US airman. |
The Blacklist |
Very brutal series of criminal movies. But, it has James Spader - famous with me by being the main character in "Boston Legal". |
Where the Crowdads Sing |
A bout a girl who lives in the Swamps of North Carolina whose family deserts here. A young man is found dead and she is accused of his murder. I found this a very difficult watch. Things seem to be accumulating for me to find another path, nothing tragic, but a natural progression. |
Sunbeat |

Featured on arte this is about a family holidaying in Portugal (beautiful scenery) with twin daughters. What comes to light is the couple lost a previous daughter to drowning. A disturbing film. |
Marry Me |
A sweet film about a dancer/singer who is let down on stage just before marrying, and so takes a teacher from the audience instead. Silly with Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. |
The Promise |
A 4-part TV mini-series from Channel 4 about Palestine, what the Jews did to the Palestinians. Written and directed by Peter Kosminsky, with Claire Foy and Christian Cooke. This is an exceptional work which shows in a graphic and dramatic masterpiece the level of cruelty of man towards "the other". Given the current context, it is difficult to image how Isreal as a state has managed to disperse the goodwill that the world held for the jews after WWII. |
The Six Triple Eight |
A battalion of black women soldiers are sent to France to sort out the US Army Post. |
The Penguin Lessans |
Set in the time of the military dictatorship in Argentinia. An english schoolteacher gets involved in the disappearence of a servant. Harrowing. |
28 Days Later |
A distopian film after a virus infection from Lab monkeys. Seen it many years ago, disturbing how (it seems) humanity can so readily fall appart. Though there is a good ending. |
Darling (1965) |
Julie Christy in a disturbing film about a woman in the 60s who has no real idea whaz she wants and tries a lot. |
The Six Triple Eight |
So, there was a black women's battalion in the US Army and they were given the job of sorting out the mail in WWII. |
The Miracle Club |
A silly film about Irish folk going to Lourdes expecting miracles. Other revelations happen, and truths come out. |
The Two Popes |
A delightful performance by both Anthony Hopkins and Johnathon Pryce. Wonderful script, dramatic and revealing, at least the first section. Looses momentum afterwards. Some music by The Swingles.... |
The Penguin Lessons |
A cute flick about a teacher in Argentina during the Junta Rule, harrowing whet they did to objectors. Based on a true story. |
Adolescence |
A rather harrowing fictional story of a young man in turmoil. Incredibly well filmed with long live shots, moving from one character to another. Acting really good. |
Soapdish |
What a bit of dross, much like so many "Daytime TV" programmes. |
French Kiss |
A bit of a jaunt with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. Well done, some French actors too.
An Affair to Remember |
A bit stilted, not a smooth performance like his other films. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr with a script which was possibly written by a 5 year old.
Moonstruck |
What a cute movie, very amusing with Cher and even Cage acts well. The grabdfather is a hoot. Excellent music - fits well. |
Emma |
Interesting, but not special. Supposed to be a comedy. Bill Nighy plays himself. |
5 Steps to Tyrany |
Scary given the current worldwide political situation - driven by that massive moron, trump. |
The Great Train Robbery |
A bit of a squeeze the script. With Sean Connery, Donald Sutherland, Lesley-Anne Down |
